- Upcoming teaching opportunity on Saturday in the city of Taubaté.
- New Bible reads well, feels good, is a great size, a possible new version to move to. (More on that later.)
- Water from the street is back on.
¶ Middle son of a sister in Christ, in Taubaté, died today of a heart attack. He was 36. Burial will be tomorrow morning. Pray for the family. Only the mother and youngest son are faithful.
¶ Are you familiar with the Understandable Version? Done by a Christian Church pastor, or something. Think Amplified Bible. Sample, Matthew 28.19-20:
So, as you go, make disciples out of people from all the nations, then immerse believers [See Mark 16:15-16] into the name of [i.e., to enter a relationship with] the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit. [Then] go on teaching them [i.e., these new converts] to obey everything I have commanded you and my presence will be with you always, even to the end of the age.
“As you go” is not a good translation, as per Greek Grammar Beyond the Basics. But the rest is good.
¶ It's a long title, but descriptive, for what I'll teach on Sat.: “The Practice of the Word of God in the Gospel of Matthew.” Will try to cover 12 texts from the gospel. Promises to be good.
¶ For the first time in a long time we rearranged the furniture in the living room. Made a nice change. I get tired of the same-old. I think I got it from my mother, who every few months would draft me to help her move furniture around.
¶ If you run across an inexpensive cabin in the woods or on the beach, far from the madding crowd, where I could spend the rest of my days writing and taking long walks with my (future) dog, let me know.
