Prayer of the day:
Let failure and disappointment turn us toward you, not away, so that your presence becomes our goal and success.
¶ Looks like our group will be out and about later in the day. Good to move around some.
¶ Powerful quote from Asbury Bible Commentary on Titus 1.9:
To hold firmly to the trustworthy message, the elder must fully comprehend it. In practical application, this means the elder is both an encourager and a refuter. He encourages some just by presenting sound (Gk., “healthful”) doctrine. At the same time, he refutes others who are opposing, or contradicting the doctrine. Thus, sound doctrine is a two-edged sword.
I think I'll use this tomorrow on forthright.net ...
¶ Sentences can often be improved by removing the verb “try”. Example: “Our job as the children of God is to <try to> glorify him and to help others do the same.”
¶ It's good to visit with family; it's good to be at home. Enjoying the one, looking forward to the other.
¶ Thankful that:
- All our children have good jobs.
- Missus and I are in a good financial position at the moment.
- We have relatively good health.
