Mostly rest time this week after months of intense stuff and travel. I admit it’s needed. At the same time, it serves to get reorganized.
¶ The saints in Bahia are united, hospitable, welcoming, warm, joyful. We like being with them. They’re among our favorite folk.
¶ A quote by Robert Marston: “No electronic exchange, no matter how rich and robust, can substitute for inhabiting the same space with other people. We are highly social beings, and we thrive on the presence of others.”
¶ Another quote, for good measure, from J. Scheerer’s NT commentary, on Romans 2.20, “having in the law the form of knowledge and of the truth”:
The Jew thought everyone ignorant but himself; therefore, he assumed they needed teaching and he could do the teaching. He did have the oracles of God, but he was not qualified to teach them because he did not practice them. They had in the law the form (that is, the outline) of knowledge and of the truth. They could have been what they thought they were, if they had been doers of the law.
¶ Another plug for bolls.life, a go-to site for Bible versions. No ads or tracking, no extraneous material. Just Bible.
¶ The beginning chapters of 1 Chronicles are a challenge to read through. They’re there for a purpose, however.
¶ A semi-random Bible verse: “Beware, those who get up early to drink beer, those who keep drinking long after dark until they are intoxicated with wine” Isaiah 5.11 NETB.
