Vicki spoke at a regional women’s event in the city of Ribeirão Preto, upstate, on Saturday, Aug. 17. She was one of three speakers. The theme was on Mary as an example for women. Over 100 women were present for the event, many of them from cities in the region. (No photo available at the moment.)
I drove her the 5+ hours there and back. We stayed in the home of a wonderful couple, José Osório and Yara. I met him back in the 90s. The men of the congregation invited me to teach the Bible class and preach on Sunday. We returned home Monday, Aug. 19.
Vicki continues to study with Elisete on Thursday nights. She catches a ride with us on Sundays for the meeting.
We were delighted to see old friends who had lived in SJCampos decades ago. On Sunday, they came to Ribeirão Preto from an hour away and spent the day with us (photo below). We worked closely with them when they lived here in SJCampos.

¶ Brother Helder received enough donations to cover his surgery for prostate cancer. It was performed last week. He is well, and will not need further treatment.
¶ 50 copies of Ed Mathews’ book on local evangelism arrived yesterday in the mail. I plan to give away many copies. I tried out a new printer with this book. It was cheaper and the quality was very good.
¶ I’ve put the material for “The Words of the Faith” in book format. It’s over 100 pages so far. Soon, it will go to the printer as well.
¶ Junior Ponso, a retired fireman from the Santo André congregation, has been writing weekly for our Brazilian website cristaos.org. His articles have garnered good attention. He is also now one of the columnists for Edificação magazine.
¶ It’s not the first time, but this is the biggest fish: A supreme court judge has ordered X (Twitter) shut down in Brazil. He threatened anyone who accesses it via VPN with a fine of nine thousand dollars.

- To finish the revision and formatting of Nilton Barretto’s book for evangelism, with 380+ pages.
